Refurbishing the bonnet insulation

Bonnet removal for example when performing a radiator change / check can be time to check the condition of the cushions that lay under the bonnet for sound and heat insulation purpose.

The originals cushions are black coarse cotton duck on one side and finer weave duck on the other, with a layer of fiberglass batting between them. This is sewn on to the wire frame around the edges, which you can reuse.
This kind of material is still very common.
